ASTAR NEW MODEL CAR

Overview - Very Cute & Stylish Small Hatchback

A-Star is to be made in 200 variants and will be exported to 150 countries across Europe, Middle east , Latin America, Asia, Australia, and Africa. A-star will be exported under the name of Suzuki Alto and Suzuki Celerio. Nissan also sells A-Star under the name Nissan Pixo in middle East and African markets. A-Star has replaced the present alto model in other countries. But in India Maruti is selling both the models side by side like they have done before with Wagon R and Estilo.

Design & Style Of Maruti A-Star

A-Star is heavily toned down as compared to the Concept A-Star which made its debut in London & was also shown at Auto Expo, 2008 in New Delhi. No doubt that the newcomer is criticised for its looks since it looks as if styling has been taken of the Kia Picanto/Morning, Hyundai i10 and Citroen C1. But Maruti A-Star looks very cute and stylish from most angles.

Styling of the Maruti A-star is typically European - the low slung grille, elliptical glasshouse, sweeping oversized headlamps and compact dimensions gives the car the necessary character. It has a good road presence. One of the most striking features of A-Star that capture attention is the highly contoured rear bumper which brings in the cool quotient to the premium A2 segment car.

For the compact body, Suzuki designer tailored a stylish, sporty and youthful look for A-Star that simultaneously exudes solidity and urban energy. It is perfectly matched to European tastes and supports a low drag coefficient. It has a bold design language with strong lines and large wheel arches. In the A-Star, A stands for Aerodynamics the car pierces the wind like a bullet. A-star slippery drag co-efficient stood at 0.30.

Interiors of Maruti A-Star

e interiors of A-Star feel a bit cramped in cows - thanks to butterfly/wing design as it looks from outside. Also rear legroom is less for 6' tall people. From driver's point of view A-Star is a very comfortable car, the instrument cluster is quite big and all meters are easy to read. It also gets dash mounted tachometer which is first of its kind in thissegment. The onlAs far as features are concerned the top model of A-Star comes fully loaded with smart dash mounted tachometer, digital trip meter, odometer, fuel gauge, clock, an integrated music system with AUX-in facility, Airbags, Anti Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD). All of these together offer an unmatched experience. Maruti A-Star features a floating cockpit design, sculpted aero-dashboard and wrap-around console add to the overall engaging sporty theme. The crimson illumination that is gentle to the eyes and has stress relieving properties, has been integrated soberly in the interiors.

Engine Of Maruti A-star

Maruti Suzuki has find somehow an engine delivering performance of a 4 cylinder motor and fuel efficiency of a 3 cylinder one. The fuel consumption of A-Star is 19.6 kmpl as tested by ARAI. The A-star is the first car from Maruti Suzuki to be fitted with the new KB Series engine. The K10B engine on the A-star is carefully designed to meet the current and forthcoming environment norms in India as well as in the advanced markets of the Western world. In India, the engine conforms to the present BS-III emission norms. The engine has undergone over 250,000 km of endurance testing and over 500 hours of engine calibration and 7,500 hours of engine validation on dynamometer.

Ride & Handling Of Maruti A-Star

rigidity and agility for passenger comfort. With a turning radius of 4.5 meters and a ground clearance of 170 mm, the A-star is suitable for all Indian conditions, including congested areas and potholed roads. The A-star boasts of a unique all-round gas damped suspension, making rides much more comfortable, and also reducing wear and tear resulting in a low maintenance cost.

Maruti A-Star has a front suspension frame for excellent handling. Front and rear suspensions have been fine-tuned for enhanced riding comfort with perfect handling on Indian road conditions. Ultra high-grade steel used in coil springs provides high cost.

Safety Features Available In Maruti A-Star

Safety features of the Maruti A-star includes Crushable structure energy dispersing frame and a high rigidity body combined with lightness, driver airbags and ABS. The A-star’s body reflects the Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) concept in the form of crushable structures that absorb impact energy and then disperse impact energy away from occupants in the event of a collision. If you ’re looking for a city car it’s certainly worthy of serious consideration indeed as the A-Star has enough stuff that could trump the Hyundai i10 as thesegment’s value choice.

Variants Available In Maruti A-star

HONDA VERNA

HONDA VERNA

The Hyundai verna is a mid-size sedan alright. But then so is the Accent. What's the difference

The difference is pretty much the same difference as there is between the Skoda Octavia and the Skoda Laura. The Laura is the next version of the Octavia, and is priced much higher and is a newer, more sophisticated car. Same here. The Hyundai Verna is the next version of the Accent. But the Accent in all its different versions is selling reasonably well, and why would any company want to kill it off? (Don't pose that question to Toyota Kirloskar, though - they think different.)

How would it be priced? The price of the Hyundai Verna would be right between the Elantra and the current Accent. Hyundai's president BVR Subbu told Business Standard that the Verna would not just be an aspirational model and that the company would be guning for big volumes.

When will the Hyundai Verna be launched? So far, the news is that the Verna's launch will be in the third quarter of 2006. Do not be surprised if it gets delayed by another 3 -6 months, such things happen all the time.

We also hear that there will be a coupe version of the Hyundai Verna. If this is true, that will be a courageous decision indeed by Hyundai India. However, we are not sure is the Verna - pretty much a normal, everyday car - is exactly what can pull off a coupe success story in India. Who knows? We will keep you posted with more photos and news as they become available.

1. Front seat height adjustment ( my wife is
shorter and so is my driver) - Even
Both cars support Front seat height adjustment

2. ABS and/or Seatbags - Verna- slight edge
ABS/Seatbags - Verna has its brakes supplied by Mando Brakes and Cityby Brakes India and the former has a slight edge over the latter - especiallythe ones with the ABS ( BTW I didnt have the time to wait for the ABS whichdoesnt roll out till next month).

3. Backseat depth to support Carseat (preferrably in the middle) - Verna epsilon edge
Both cars have good space (incidentally the Verna is about a few centimeters larger than the City -both in the front and the back - width and depth - and YES I had them measured ;-) )

Good trunk space - Even

The City is larger at 500 compared to the Verna at 400 but the Verna has a 60/40 Split back seat in case I need to load something long - I really considered this a wash because sometimes you need to have big things stored and have folks in the car and sometimes you might like the fact that you can choose to bring home the long items in the trunk.

5. Performance - Verna
I test drove both cars and I had expected the Verna to underperform the City in the 20-60 range (based on some reviews on the web) and I was surprised that it was not at all the case and the City was nowhere close to the Verna both in the City and Highway

6. Mileage (Fuel efficiency)- City
The City can go 12-13kpl and the Verna around 10kpl and so the City has atleast a 2.5-3kpl lead

7. Looks/Design (/Envy factor ;-) ) - City slight Edge
My only consideration was that the car shouldnt be butt-ugly like the Nissan Morano or the Maruti Swift - as thought half the engineering design paper was torn off. The Honda is a familiar sight in the city and the straight H symbol as well. The Hyundai looks very different and pretty good in the Real Earth(the color I decided on finally) - My wife felt that it was a wash and if at all the Verna was better. I dont care if the design was bootlegged out of Munich or Tokyo - you can enjoy it all the same.

P.S. I hate the faux wood in the interiors of all the C-segment cars. It reminds me of the American cars in the 80s. Unfortunately I have to live with it because apparently it is a desired factor.

The main factors came down to Cost and Mileage - I had calculated my driving distance to be around 15000 to 20000 (max) a year and it worked to around 300 to 400 litres more for the Verna depending on the km driven. This translated to around 16K-21K a year or with fuel increases to Rs 65 - 19K-26K more per year.

Given a 4 year basis and positive differential ranges between 64K to 100K and a possible negative differential of -20K I decided to go with the Verna especially with it being the NKOTB and liking the feel of the car.

Partially affecting my decision was that I knew some of the Engineering folks involved in the Hyundai Verna and they gave me more details that helped make my decision.

INTEL CORE I7

INTEL CORE I7

 INTEL CORE I7
Intel Core i7 is an Intel brand name for several families of desktop and laptop 64-bit x86-64 processors using the Nehalem, Westmere, and Sandy Bridge microarchitectures. The Core i7 brand is targeted at the business and high-end consumer markets for both desktop and laptop computers, and is distinguished from the Core i3 (entry-level consumer), Core i5 mainstream consumer) and Xeon (server) brands.

In each of the first three microarchitecture generations of the brand, Core i7 has family members using two distinct system-level architectures, and therefore two distinct sockets. In each generation, the highest-performing Core i7 processors use the same socket and QPI-based architecture as the low-end Xeon processors of that generation, while lower-performing Core i7 processors use the same socket and PCIe/DMI/FDI architecture as the Core i5.

"Core i7" is a successor to the Intel Core 2 brand.[1][2][3][4] The Core i7 identifier was first applied to the initial family of processors[5][6] codenamed Bloomfield introduced in 2008. In 2009 the name was applied to Lynnfield and Clarksfield models.[7] Prior to 2010, all models were quad-core processors. In 2010, the name was applied to dual-core Arrandale models, and the Gulftown Core i7-980X Extreme processor which has six hyperthreaded cores. In January 2011, Intel released a line of Sandy Bridge based chips under the Core i7 brand.

Intel representatives stated that the moniker Core i7 is meant to help consumers decide which processor to purchase as the newer Nehalem-based products are released in the future.[8] The name continues the use of the Intel Core brand.[9] The first Core i7 was officially launched on November 17, 2008.[10]

CANCER DISEASES

 CANCER DISEASES

In India, there is no concept of health insurance. Patients, who can afford it, pay for treatment out of pocket. Those who cannot, die.
However, even a few dollars go a long way in an all volunteer organization . Our operating expenses are less than 10% which means more than 90% of your donation goes directly to people who need it. Consider this. A donation of
$5 will put another toy in our toy bank. $60 will put a child through school for 1 year. $100 will pay for 1 week of chemotherapy treatment for 1 child.$500 will fund the entire treatment of a cancer patient.

Sahayta has helped over a 1000 people in the past nine years. With your support we can help a lot more.

The mission of Sahayta , a non-profit organization based in India, is to provide holistic (financial, emotional and social) support to people afflicted with cancer. Sahayta means help and support in Hindi, and our intention is to instill confidence, hope and courage in the minds of patients and their family members. Our EMBLEM indicates our efforts to reach out wherever help is needed and light the light of life.

FIBER NUTRIENT FOODS

FIBER NUTRIENT  FOODS

Now whether you choose to track your body weight, your waist circumference or your body fat percentage - that is up to you. What is important is that you start keeping track of something. Tracking your progress is a simple exercise that reminds you of your goals and in the process creates a mechanism whereby you will make future positive choices throughout the day. Will all your future choices be the "right" ones (e.g. eating more fruits and vegetables or exercising)? Perhaps not at first, but over time, as you begin to replace poor eating habits with good ones, they will be.

Losing weight is a never-ending battle for some people, but if you really think about it, it’s a pretty simple process. The key is to eat foods that make you feel full instead of eating foods that make you feel hungry an hour or two later – pretty easy huh. Here are some simple tips to help you eat smarter.

Eat foods that make you feel full
Eat fiber rich foods
Avoid sugary snacks and high carbohydrate foods!

I make it sound simple, but of course it’s not that easy in reality. We’re all tempted by snacks filled with sugar and carbohydrates everyday at work and at home. That being said, it is possible to slowly start changing your eating habits so that you start working healthy foods into your diet little by little.
How Sugar-Filled Foods and High-Carb Foods are Related
It’s important to understand how sugar-filled treats – such as soda, cake, candy, and other vending machine “delights” – are all related to foods such as white bread, regular pastas, and rice. When we eat these sugar-filled, high-carb foods, our bodies turn it into sugar (glucose) which is then stored as the dreaded fat that we all work so hard to avoid.
Curb Your Appetite and Avoid Sugar and Carbs at the Same Time
It’s possible to make yourself feel more “full” at mealtime by introducing more protein into your diet with a steady diet of lean meats, such as chicken and fish, along with an occasional steak or two. Also important is to eat plenty of fiber-rich vegetables and whole wheat breads, pastas, and rice. Protein, fiber, and fat are digested slowly by your body and thus your body feels more full. Eating carbs, even if it’s a large quantity, makes you hungry within a couple of hours, whereas high-protein foods will leave you full and satisfied until your next meal.

TOYOTO HISTORY

 TOYOTO

History

In 1994, Toyota executive Takeshi Uchiyamada was given the task of creating a new car that would be both fuel efficient and environmentally .After reviewing over 100 hybrid designs, the engineering team settled on a hybrid engine design based on a 1974 TRW patent, but many technical and engineering problems had to be solved within the three years that the team was given to bring the car to the Japanese market, a goal they barely achieved as the first Prius went on sale in December 1997.

A main problem was the longevity of the battery, which needed to last between 7 and 10 years. The solution the engineers came up with was to keep the battery pack between 60% and 40% charged, proving to be the "sweet spot" for extending the battery life to roughly that of the other car components.

The car was a modest success in Japan and after gathering several years of test data from the Japanese early adopters, the company felt it was safe to put it on sale in the U.S and European markets in 2001. ச.ales were limited and customer waiting lists of up to 6 months were common during the first few years. In 2004, a complete redesign, increased production, and soaring fuel prices led to significant increases in sales.

Name
"Prius" is not a verb but a Latin singular form of the adjective whose corresponding masculine and feminine nominative singular forms are ப்ரயொர் (see also )with meanings "ahead, in front, leading; previous, earlier, preceding, prior; former; basic."

A Toyota spokesperson stated that "Toyota chose this name because the Prius vehicle is the predecessor of cars to come."

Some enthusiasts enjoy using "Prii" as the plural, which would be correct if "prius" were a regular Latin noun. The actual Latin plural of the adjective is "priora" (Reference is slightly in error here).

All of these forms are and there are several other forms for the other case. As for the plural of "Prius" in English, Toyota has said that it is simply "Prius" and also that owners are welcome to use whatever they like.

The first Prius, model NHW10, went on sale on December 10, 1997. It was available only in Japan, though it has been imported privately to the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Many of these cars are now being exported as second-hand to New Zealand and other countries. The common battery failures and other mechanical problems are not supported outside Japan.

To handle the voltage between the battery and electric motor, the semiconductocore inverter unit was modeled on heavy-duty திருன்சிச்டோர்ஸ் உஸெட்ப்ய்தhe ஷிங்கன்சென் bullet train.

The first production model NHW10 Toyota Prius was rolled out of Toyota's Takoka factory in Toyota சிட்டி , Aichi near Nagoya on December 1997, followed by the start of two years of Japan-only sales.

The 2001–2003 Prius for the United States market was powered by a 1.5 liter Atkinson cycle 4 ச்ய்ளிந்தர் gasoline engine, a permanent magnet AC electric motor, and a 274-volt nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery pack. The gasoline engine developed 70 hp (52 kW) and 82 ft·lbf (111 N·m) of torque. The electric motor generated a maximum of 44 hp (33 kW) and 258 ft·lbf (350 N·m) of torque.
The NHW11 Prius became more powerful partly to satisfy the higher speeds and longer distances that Americans drive.Air conditioning was standard equipment.

Interior.
The vehicle was the second mass-produced hybrid on the American market, after the two-seat Honda Insight. While the larger Prius could seat five, its battery pack restricted cargo space. The vehicle interior featured a dash-mounted shift lever, and a small touch screen with a hybrid powertrain display. This feature showed the vehicle operation regarding the interplay between gasoline engine, battery pack, and electric motors, and could also show a bar graph of fuel economy results.

In 2004, the Prius was completely redesigned as a mid-size liftback, sized between the Corollaand the Camry, with redistributed mechanical and interior space significantly increasing rear-seat legroom and luggage room.

The 2004 Prius is even more environmentally-friendly than the 2001 model (according to the EPA), and is 6 inches (150 mm) longer than the previous version. Its more aerodynamic Kammback body balances length and wind resistance resulting in a drag coefficient ( Cd) of 0.26. Brake fix and radar ச்றிசே

On February 9, 2010, Toyota announced a voluntary global recall of third generation 2010 Prius models manufactured from the current model's introduction through late January.

Affected models, including 133,000 Prius vehicles in the U.S. and 52,000 in Europe, are to receive an anti-lock brake software updateto fix brake response over rough roads, following reports of delayed braking response on certain surface conditions.

Apple co-founder and Prius collector Steve Wozniak was also quoted by media outlets regarding a possible cruise control on one of his several Priuses, where the steps for "upping the speed" using the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control system allegedly caused unintended acceleration.

Wozniak later maintained that he was misquoted, but did have an individual vehicle and customer service issue while auto journalists and other Prius drivers suggested user error.

On March 8, 2010, a publicized incidentof alleged Prius acceleration in San Diego was later suspected to be a hoaxor not repeatable

In India, the Fortuner is certainly headed for a rollercoaster ride. This is not to mistaken for the car having low popularity. In fact, ever since it was introduced in the Indian auto market, bookings have been pouring in. So much so, that Toyota had to put a break on further bookings, so the company could first deliver to their existing customer list. The backlog stood at 6,000 in the country.
Obviously this was going to hurt the company, so only recently they restarted bookings with a pledge to clear the backlog. However, that happy run has ended as Toyota has stalled bookings within a month of having starting them again.
This Kirloskar Group JV kept bookings open for this SUV for the month of July this year after having suspended bookings in Jan. It appears the SUV has found fans in the additional 3,004 bookings made through July. As such, the company is yet again dealing with a backlog o over 6,000 vehicles.
Toyota hopes to clear their Fortuner backlog by the end of the year, and consequently resume bookings by January next year. Toyota had earlier expressed a desire to clear all backlogs by end o year. Production has been increased to over a 1000 vehicles each month. Initially this figure hovered at around 500 vehicles.

Maruti 800 revolutionized the small car industry in India when it was launched in 1984 and more than 25 lakh Maruti 800 cars sold so far. Now Maruti Alto replaced 800’s position –even though it is priced little high and with more features compared to 800, Alto is top selling models now.
But Tata Nano created a new segment where Maruti doesn’t have any product to match the price tag. Now Maruti is going to fill that space with Maruti Cervo which is going to be priced to suit this segment.

Maruti Suzuki has not officially disclosed the pricing and other details about Cervo but here is the expected features and pricing details.
